Another Rainy Day

It never seems to stop raining here. It has rained every single day since I arrived. Sometimes the sun peaks out from behind the clouds in the morning, but inevitably the clouds win over and it starts raining.

I'm going to try making a Challah for Yom Kippur today, but first I need to go to the grocery store and buy the ingredients.... problem is I don't know enough German really to ask for what I want. Matthias' wife Hilke has agreed to come along with me today and act as my translator! She's also a very good cook so I think she'll help me out in the kitchen as well. I've never made a challah before! Hopefully it turns out ok.

Tonight we are going to check out Kol Nidre services at the synagogue here in Bonn. I think it will be a very interesting experience and we are looking forward to it. Tomorrow Dan and I will try fasting... last year he made it all the way through no problems, but I had a much more difficult time. We'll see how we do this year. And we're having an Israeli couple (also fellow mathematicians) over for the break fast. Our apartment is so nice and cozy, I'm really looking forward to having some guests over.

Miss you all!
D. and D.
