It must be an amazing feeling to be in the United States right now, to experience this election at home. Here in Germany people are going about their daily business as usual. Make no mistake about it, everybody knows that what happens in the U.S. today will have world wide effects and consequences, but it's nothing they can control, so business as usual it is.
For me and Dan it's a different sort of day. We can't help but think that despite how far away we are from home, despite being only two people out of millions, despite having already voted a month ago, we can still make a difference somehow. We can still be a part of history.
So tonight we're watching CNN, all night long. The first polls close at midnight our time, so we'll be up for a long while. Dan and Jeremy bought a keg of beer to keep them up, and I think I'll probably have several cups of coffee myself, and maybe a beer or two with the boys.
Gussie, I hope you're wearing the Obama collar mama sent you!

Hey Guys!!!
We are so excited here in MN! It was so awesome to have Obama win so early and with so many electoral votes! People were running up and down the streets and people driving their cars were honking horns =) His speech was amazing, it moved me to tears and I just can't believe we did it! I'm so happy you got your say in this election- we all helped make history and this is the kind of history that will be in History text books in the future!
We miss you guys, its starting to get cold now and it will probably snow soon- I think Friday.... I'm glad to see and hear you both are doing great. Take more pictures and have lots of fun.
We have a new President!! Thank goodness =)
